Sexual Abuse Recovery Groups called “Grow Groups”
Our Grow Groups are a safe confidential place for victims to find support, comfort, friendships and information to help them recover from sexual abuse. In the presence of other victims, members find they are not alone. Others have similar painful stories, heartaches, regrets, secrets, and fears.
Our 10 week recovery groups meet three times a year starting on the second Thursday in January, April, and September. They are free for participants.
Each week a new topic is discussed from our Finally Free Guidebook to help victims overcome the many rippling effects from sexual abuse. These topics include:
Our drop-in groups meet weekly all year round. You can attend as you are able. There is no need to commit for 10 consecutive weeks. We use the Finally Free Guidebook for these groups as well.
In the groups victims are encouraged to tell or write their story and share it with their group as they feel safe to do so, however, this is not a requirement. Please don’t let the fear of telling your story keep you from attending a group and beginning the healing process.
There are guidelines set forth to keep the groups safe, effective, and confidential. Who you see and what you hear in the group, stays in the group.
We are faith based which allows us to freely address faith issues in our groups. We admit we need help and rely on Almighty God for wisdom, strength and grace.
All victims are welcome regardless of religion, race, gender, age, sexual preference, or gender identity.
All the recovery groups are facilitated by survivors of sexual abuse who have gone through the Healing Private Wounds’ recovery group. Victims are encourage to repeat the Grow Groups several times until they feel they no longer need the support of the group.
